
Ximena de Sabra, M.D.Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology
Dr. Ximena de Sabra is a Board Certified Eye Physician and Surgeon who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She specializes in the treatment of dry eyes and ocular allergies and provides comprehensive ophthalmic care for patients with diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. She is also experienced in Botox chemodenervation, both for cosmetic rejuvenation and for medical conditions such as blepharospasm. She has published original research in leading medical journals and actively participates in continuing medical education. Dr. de Sabra was born in South America and moved to Florida with her family as a teenager. Her parents hold PhDs from Stanford University in California and her brother is an attorney with the Marine Corps who resides in Newport, Rhode Island with his family. Dr. de Sabra is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. Dr. de Sabra received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley and then pursued further scientific studies at Ivy League institutions on the east coast. She completed her postgraduate work in Biology at Columbia University in New York City and received her medical degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 1995. She married her med school sweetheart, Dr. John Sabra, in 1997. Dr. de Sabra interned at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. After finishing residency in 2000 she and her husband relocated to Virginia. There he served as a Navy surgeon and was a decorated officer. During that time, she was an associate at Virginia Beach Eye Center, a well established and prestigious ophthalmic practice. Upon returning to Texas in 2004, Dr. de Sabra joined Knolle and Young Associates. Her husband joined Texas Surgical Group and is a general and trauma surgeon at Brackenridge Hospital. They have two young children and reside in Westlake. When not working, they enjoy water sports including scuba diving, swimming and sailing. They also enjoy spending leisure time with Dr. de Sabra¹s parents, who relocated from Washington D.C. following their grandchildren¹s footsteps. Dr. de Sabra excels in personalized care and is dedicated to upholding a friendly atmosphere where time is taken to carefully explain exam findings and treatment goals to each patient.
